<hi rendition="#rend_italic">Аly</hi> — родительный падеж от <hi rendition="#rend_italic">Al</hi> ‘аланы’, собирательное название),
|
|||
|
|
буквально „просо алан“. Ср. элемент <hi rendition="#rend_italic">Аl</hi> в имени бога-кузнеца
|
|||
|
|
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">Kurd-Al-Wærgon</hi> „кузнец-аланский-Варгон“. То, что в названии хлебного
|
|||
|
|
божества мы находим именно просо, а не другой злак, говорит о том особом
|
|||
|
|
значении, какое имела для древних осетин культура проса, по сравнению с другими
|
|||
|
|
злаками. — Об „инверсии“ в сложных словах типа <hi rendition="#rend_italic">tatpurusa</hi> см. под словом <ref type="xr" target="#entry_cæfxad"/> ‘подкова’, а также <bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_ОЯФ_I"/><biblScope>231—235</biblScope></bibl>.</etym>

<etym xml:lang="en">It is an "inversed" compound (instead of <hi rendition="#rend_italic">Aly-Būrxor</hi>, where
|
|||
|
|
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">Aly</hi> — is genitive case form of the word <hi rendition="#rend_italic">Al</hi> ‘Alans’, a collective noun),
|
|||
|
|
literally “Alans' millet”. Cf. the element <hi rendition="#rend_italic">Al</hi> in the blacksmith god's name
|
|||
|
|
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">Kurd-Al-Wærgon</hi> "blacksmith-Alans'-Wærgon". The fact that in the cereal
|
|||
|
|
deity's name we found millet and not another herb tells about that special
|
|||
|
|
meaning which millet had for ancient Ossetic people, compaired to other herbs. —
|
|||
