<etym xml:lang="ru">Из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fe-cæwun</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">*pati-čyav-</hi>. Основа глагола <hi rendition="#rend_italic">cæw-un</hi>
выступает здесь на сильной ступени огласовки (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">cæw-</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">*caw-</hi>), как в <ref type="xr" target="#entry_caw"/> ‘случай’, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">cawæn</hi> (<ref type="xr" target="#entry_cwan"/>) ‘охота’ и во второй части сложных слов <hi rendition="#rend_italic">xos-ʒaw</hi>
[<ref type="xr" target="#entry_xosʒaw"/>] ‘косарь’, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">don-ʒaw</hi> [<ref type="xr" target="#entry_donʒaw"/>] ‘водонос’ и др. Совершенно иное значение
получило и. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fīcawyn"/> ‘мешать в котле’. Ср. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_cæwyn"/>.</etym>
<etym xml:lang="en">From <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fe-cæwun</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">*pati-čyav-</hi>. The stem of the verb
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">cæw-un</hi> has a strong ablaut grade here (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">cæw-</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">*caw-</hi>), as in <ref type="xr" target="#entry_caw"/> case, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">cawæn</hi> (<ref type="xr" target="#entry_cwan"/>) hunt and in the second part of compound words
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">xos-ʒaw</hi> [<ref type="xr" target="#entry_xosʒaw"/>] mower, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">don-ʒaw</hi> [<ref type="xr" target="#entry_donʒaw"/>] water carrier etc. The Iron word <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fīcawyn"/> stir in a cauldron received a
