<etym xml:lang="en">One could think of a lexicalized form with the allative case <mentioned xml:lang="os"><m>-mæ</m></mentioned> from <ref type="xr" target="#entry_sæw-"><w>sæw-</w>
<q>morning</q></ref>. But in this case we would expect an adverbial use with the meaning
<q>by morning</q>, <q>until morning</q>, cf. <mentioned xml:lang="os"><w>izærmæ</w>
<gloss><q>untill night</q></gloss></mentioned> and so on. However the use of <oRef/> in
this meaning is not attested. Therefore, we have to see in <mentioned xml:lang="os"><m>-mæ</m></mentioned> not a case ending, but an old formant <m>-ma-</m>:
