связано с <mentioned xml:lang="fa"><w>tābidan</w> (<w>tāftan</w>)
<gloss><q>скручивать</q>, <q>прясть</q></gloss></mentioned> и значит собственно
<gloss><q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">пряжа</q></gloss>. Это значение было,
очевидно, исходным и для ос. <oRef>tæbyn</oRef>. <note xml:lang="ru" type="footnote">Ожидали бы <w type="rec">tævyn</w>, но колебание <c>v</c> || <c>b</c> между гласными
наблюдается и в других случаях, например <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ʒyvyr"><w>ʒyvyr</w></ref> || <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ʒybyr"><w>ʒybyr</w></ref>

accidental. The latter is connected with <mentioned xml:lang="fa"><w>tābidan</w>
(<w>tāftan</w>) <gloss><q>to twist</q>, <q>to spin</q></gloss></mentioned> and means
actually <gloss><q rendition="#rend_doublequotes">yarn</q></gloss>. This meaning was
probably also the original meaning of Ossetic <oRef>tæbyn</oRef>. <note type="footnote">One would expect <w type="rec">tævyn</w>, but the <c>v</c> || <c>b</c> alternation
between vowels is also observed in other cases, for example <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ʒyvyr"><w>ʒyvyr</w></ref> || <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ʒybyr"><w>ʒybyr</w></ref>

<w type="rec">tafna-</w></mentioned>, which gave consequently <mentioned xml:lang="fa"><lang/>

postulating an Iranian base <mentioned xml:lang="ira"><w type="rec">tab-</w> (<w type="rec">tap-</w>) meaning <gloss><q>to twist</q>, <q>to
spin</q></gloss></mentioned>. This base is also reflected in <mentioned><mentioned xml:lang="yah"><lang/>
<w>tabin</w></mentioned>, <mentioned xml:lang="sgh"><lang/>
