<hi rendition="#rend_italic">*fydisn</hi>, но%n<hi rendition="#rend_italic">-n</hi> со временем отпало (ср. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xæs"/> из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*xæsn</hi>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_færæz"/>
из <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*færæzn</hi> и др.). Однако утверждать это нельзя, так как во второй части
сложных слов сплошь и рядом выступает в других случаях чистая основа

‘take out’. Digor <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fidesnæ</hi> suggests that there was <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*fydisn</hi> in Iron, but
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">-n</hi> disappeared over time (compare with <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xæs"/>
from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*xæsn</hi>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_færæz"/> from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*færæzn</hi> etc.).
However, this cannot be argued, since in the second part of compound words, the
