В свете кавказских фактов от таких попыток благоразумнее отказаться. — См. læg мужчина. 266. A family name ending in -tæ, derived from the proper name Alæg, of West Caucasian origin; cf. Alləg a Nart family, Aləǵuqo (→ Alæǵyqo) a proper name, Alaǵuqo id. (Zapiski Kavkazskogo otdelenija Russkogo geografičeskogo obščestva [Working Papers of the Caucasian department of the Russian Geographic Society] XXII 28) (Alag + qo son). Perhaps one should take a-ləg as the point of departure (a is the Abkhaz article). In this case, Alæg turns out to be eventually connected with læg man (of Caucasian origin). — Several attempts have been made to explain Alæg- from Indo-Iranian languages, tracing it back to āryaka- Aryan or connecting it with the toponym Alakā (Wüst, Studia indo-iranica, Ehrengabe für W. Geiger, 1931, p. 185—212. — Benveniste, 233, fasc. annexe, p. 118.. — Charpentier, XXVIII 66—69. — Thieme, 50, p. 72; Thieme. Fremdling im Ṛgveda. 1938, p. 148; 53).
