Ср. с семантической стороны bilek рука, bileklik повод (Русско-карач.-балк. сл. М., 1965, стр. 554, 426). — Из аланского идет urx, urx (мн. ч. arxaš) вожжа, повод ( 433). Метатеза в этих языках (rox → urx) закономерна: они неохотно начинают слово с r-; ср. ræs напильник — urs нож и др. The vowel o in Iron usually traces back to a before nasals: ron belt from rāna-, don water from dānu- and many others. Sometimes the nasal drops out in Iron, but is retained in Digor: ²roxironx forgotten, xoxxonx mountain, fosfons livestock. This gives us the right to trace ¹rox to ronx and later to ranx ← ranka-. Therefore, we come to the Slavo-Baltic name of the arm: ra̧ka, ruka, rankà, rùoka. The connecting concept is the concept of holding: arm — with what they hold, rein — what they hold. As for the semantic point of view, cf. bilek arm, bileklik rein (Russko-karačaevo-balkarskij slovarʼ [Russian-Karachay-Balkar Dictionary] Moscow, 1965, p. 554, 426). — urx, urx (plural arxaš) rein, reins ( 433) come from Alan. Metathesis in these languages (rox → urx) is natural: they are reluctant to start a word with r-; cf. ræs file — urs knife etc.
