За пределами индоиранского мира ср., быть может, ἀνα-ρριχάομαι, ἀρριχάομαι ползти, с трудом пробираться на четвереньках ( 1002). — В топонимике Карачая встречается термин Rənǯə ( 285). Из аланского идет, видимо, rinža проход. Ос. rynʒ фонетически могло восходить и к rin-ti- (как fsonʒ к span-ti- и т. п.), и в этом случае бросается в глаза близость к rinne, rintiö, rinteys обрыв, откос, край, склон. Случайное созвучие? Can be traced back to rinǰya- (← rinǵya-) and brought closer to ring-, riṅgati crawl, plow through. As for the development of the meaning, cf. stīgan ( steigh-) go, climb up → steiga steep path etc. ( 1017–1018). See also ov-ring narrow mountain path, artificial ledge, trail on a steep cliff, pa-rīn mountain ledge, which is very difficult to pass (198), pə-riīn galleried road carried across a cliff by fixing pieces of wood in the cliff face and constructing a roadway on them with timbers, stones and earth( II 177–178), raṃga- river bank (but cf.: VI 299). Beyond the Indo-Iranian world, cf., possibly, ἀνα-ρριχάομαι, ἀρριχάομαι crawl, wade on all fours with difficulty ( 1002). — In the toponymy of Karachay there is a term Rənǯə ( 285). rinža passage comes apparently from Alan. From a phonetic point of view, Ossetic rynʒ could have traced back to rin-ti- as well (like fsonʒ does so to span-ti- etc.), and in this case the closeness to rinne, rintiö, rinteys cliff, slope, edge, hillside catches the eye. Is it a random consonance?
