Дальнейшее не ясно. Древность и оригинальность всей молочной терминологии у осетин ( 58) делают мало вероятным заимствование этого слова из кавказских языков. Не исключено, что ос. seræ представляет одну из сепаратных скифо-латинских изоглосс (об этом: 27—29, 129—131); ср. serum молочная сыворотка. В этом случае в šer- надо видеть заимствование из осетинского. It is close to šar (in oblique cases and in the plural the stem is šer-) milk whey, šar-xudar porrige with whey. Further information is not clear. The antiquity and originality of all dairy terminology among Ossetians ( 58) make it unlikely that this word is borrowed from the Caucasian languages. It is possible that Ossetic seræ represents one of the separate Scythian-Latin isoglosses (see: 27—29, 129—131); cf. serum milk whey. In this case šer- should be seen as a borrowing from Ossetic.
