Cf. for the first part damban grave, τάφος funeral, for the second fari, φημί, bajati, bajatʼ to speak, basatʼ occupy others in the conversation (), basitʼ to speak ( Slovarʼ [Dictionary] II 130). In this case tæfærfæs would correspond to the Greek expression ἐριτάφιος λόγος.
