It is related to those cases where the initial t- traces back to d- (cf. tīw brother-in-law, tærqūs hare, tarvaz doorjamb etc.), and trace it back to daxš- (←das-s-) burn, scorch, cause burning pain. ( 48–49), daxtʼa marked, daxšak sign, mark (initially mark from burning, Brandmal), dažītan burn, scorch, aw-daǰ- (ʼwdj-) burn ( 51), dajs- burn ( 43), dag- burn, cause pain, daxša- burn (n.), dah-, dahati burn, have burning pain (about wounds), dakṣu- burning, blazing, t͡sak-, dègti burn.Ideosemantics burning — pain is usual; cf.
