К этим словам относится и tojmon; ср., с одной стороны, tomana, tomna, tumna сова (Васильев. Марий мутэр. М., 1926, стр. 206, 212), (из марийского?) tǎmana сова (Русско-чув. сл. М., 1951, стр. 704), tojon орел, с другой стороны — tʼuma сова (Русско-дарг. сл. Махачкала, 1950, стр. 1214). Может быть, сюда же tajlan (из tajman) ястреб ( 471) (о колебании сонантов m || l см.: 1973 VI 191).Этимология слова для нас темна; taj-manaa лесной страж? Для первой части ср. (из монг.) тай непроходимый лес ( III 69), для второй — mana(γ)a (ночной) страж ( 525). Возможно, имеет сюда отношение и русская фамилия Тайманов. 67–68. The Ossetic lexicon has elements that have two connections – with the Eastern Finnish and Caucasian languages: ʒedyr blackberry, cæx salt, ændon steel, kaw wattle fence, kært yard etc. These words include tojmon as well; cf., on the one hand, tomana, tomna, tumna owl (Vasil'ev. Marij muter [Mari dictionary]. Moscow, 1926, p. 206, 212), (from Mari?) tǎmana owl (Russko-čuvašskij slovarʼ [Russian-Chuvash dictionary]. Moscow, 1951, p. 704), tojon eagle, on the other hand – tʼuma owl (Russko-darginskij slovarʼ [Russian-Dargwa dictionary]. Makhachkala, 1950, p. 1214). It is possible that tajlan (from tajman) hawk ( 471) is also related (on the variation of sonants m || l see: 1973 VI 191).The etymology of the word is dark for us; taj-manaa forest guard? For the first part cf.. (from Mongolian) taj impenetrable forest ( III 69), for the second part – mana(γ)a (night) guard ( 525). Possibly related to this is surname Tajmanov. 67–68.
