Formally it is close to vandhura- body of a cart, ἄθρας (from wandhras) cart (Hesychius), whereas etymologically it is especially close to the Germanic group: vǫndr, vander, wandus, (from Old Norse) wand rod, pin. From Germanic is also borrowed vint.
