Формант -aw, -w наличен в fæjjaw, , и др. Форма agdak сохранилась в скифском имени ʽΑρδαγδακος. Значение обычая, æǧdaw, в старом осетинском быту колоссально. Другой термин для обычая, fædgfædgæ (см.), имеет более ограниченную сферу применения, но по происхождению, вероятно, так же древен. 152 — Benveniste LII 50 сл. Maybe goes back to haxta-, cf. haxta- right, proper, lawful, anahaxta- (= ænæǧdaw) illegal, devoid of authority, aɣdaw (ʼɣtʼw) judge. The final -w sometimes occurs in Ossetic and Sogdian instead of the more common nominal suffix, -g, -k; cf. the variation -āk ‖ -āw in ’nɣtʼk ‖ ’nɣtʼw all, whole ( II 75) or ywrtʼk ‖ ywʼrdʼw barley etc. The suffix -aw, -w is found in fæjjaw, , etc. The form agdak survived in the Scythian name ʽΑρδαγδακος. The importance of the custom, æǧdaw, in traditional Ossetian life is colossal. Another term for custom, fædgfædgæ (see), has a more limited scope, but is probably just as ancient in origin. 152 — Benveniste LII 50 ff.
