Основу kwyrs- | kwærs- мы с некоторым сомнением рассматриваем как удлинение основы kʼwyr- | kʼwær- ‘толкать’ [см. ] с помощью инхоативного s (ср. || byrsyn, || dymsyn и др.). Æxxwyrsyn | ixwærsun значило бы в этом случае буквально „погонять“; ср. погонять в смысле „заставлять на себя работать“. Ср. также | ænxwærsun ‘двигаться с места’. The fusion of the stem kwærs-, with the preverbs: (from ham-) — æmkwærs- → æxxwyrs-; i- (from vi-) — i-kwærs- → ixwærs-. The stem kwyrs- | kwærs- may be considered as the lengthening of the stem kʼwyr- | kʼwær- ‘push’ [see ] with the inchoative s (cf. || byrsyn, || dymsyn etc.). In this case aəxxwyrsyn | ixwærsun would mean literally "drive"; cf. pogonjatʼ in the meaning "make someone to work on you". Cf. also | ænxwærsun ‘set out’.
