PUT NOTE HERE Наличие слова на территории Южной России, с одной стороны, и в осетинском, с другой, позволяет думать о старом скифском наследии. — По звуковому типу ʒyvyr, ʒybyr относится к группе слов (kb || tb || сb, kbr || tbr || cbr), означающих, по поляризации значений, то ‘круглый’, ‘тупой’, ‘обрубленный’, то ‘выступающий’, ‘торчащий’, ‘острый’. Всю эту группу весьма древних, по-видимому, слов мы рассматриваем подробнее под словом ‘круглый’. Не случайно, быть может, созвучие с | cubur ‘короткий’. Исходное значение: „орудие с острым, торчащим концом“. Ср. семантику славянского соха, означающего также ‘вилы’, ‘развилина’, ‘палка’ (по-cox). Неудивительно, что в рутульском мы находим наше слово ( ǯubur) со значением ‘рукоятка’, ‘ручка’, а также ‘хвост’. puruc соха представляет, возможно, перестановку тех же элементов (*cu-pur → pur-uc). Ср. также mučʼur соха (← *č’umur?). Приведенные кавказские слова могли возникнуть самостоятельно на основе „звуковой символики“. sūpur соха идёт от *spar- и сюда не относится. In the Azov dialect of Modern Greek we find the word cavura plough, which is hardly separable from ʒyvyr. PUT NOTE HERE The existence of the word in Southern Russia, on one hand, and in Ossetic, on the other hand, makes us think about the ancient Scythian heritage. — In terms of sound type ʒyvyr, ʒybyr pertains to the group of words (kb || tb || cb, kbr || tbr || cbr), which mean, according to meaning polarization, either ‘round’, ‘blunt’, ‘cut off’, or ‘extrusive’, ‘sticking out’, ‘sharp’. We take a closer look at this whole group of apparently rather ancient words in the ‘round’ entry. It is possible that the similarity with | cubur ‘short’. is not accidental. The original meaning is “a tool with a sharp, extended edge”. See the semantics of the Slavic word soxa, which also means ‘pitchfork’, ‘crotch’, ‘stick’ (po-sox). It is not surpising that in Rutul we find our word ( ǯubur) having the meaning ‘hilt’, ‘handle’, as well as ‘tail’. puruc plough may be an instance of metathesis of the same elements (*cu-pur → pur-uc). Compare also mučʼur plough (← *č’umur?). The Caucasian words listed above could have emerged independently on the bases of “sound symbolism”. sūpur plough comes from *spar- and is not connected.
