Both of these words relate probably to an old substratum heritage which is common in many language; cf. bicik child в jābicik, buts, bets child, bača boy, bečuk small, beče calf etc. (cf. MorgenstierneActa Оr. I 254 сл.). The final -ew is probably the result of the contamination with the word ‘nestling’.%n121.
