Буквальное значение, стало быть, „наделенный светом“. Развитие значения „свет“ — „богатство“ отражает старые воззрения, по которым источником ‘богатства’, ‘силы’, ‘власти’ мыслилось ‘небо’. От bā- небо-свет, мы имеем поэтому закономерно, с одной стороны, день’, с другой — сила’, ‘власть’, ‘богатство’. Еще А. Шегрен, отмечая с некоторым колебанием связь слова bonǵyn ‘богатый’ с ‘день’, указал блестящую аналогию в латинском языке: dies день и dives богатый образованы от одного и того же корня. Сюда же относятся deus бог и divus божественный. reich богатый означает в то же время ‘власть’, ‘царство’ и восходит к индоевропейской основе *reg, означавшей первоначально ‘небо’, ‘свет’ и пр. Ср. также rūz→‘счастье’ день.%n114 сл. — 72. The word is derived from ’day’, ‘light’ ( bānu-) with the suffix -ǵyn | -gin meaning possession of something. A literal meaning, thus, is "gifted with the light". The development of the meaning "light" — "wealth" reflects old ideas, according to which the source of 'wealth', ‘might’, ‘power’ was 'sky'. From bā- sky-light, so regularly there is 'day’ from the one side, and from the other side there is "might’, ‘power’, ‘wealth’. Yet A. Sjögren, while noticing the connection of the word bonǵyn ‘rich’ with ‘day’, pointed to a brilliant analogy in Latin: dies day and dives rich are derived from the same root. The following words also refer here: deus god and divus godlike. reich rich at the same time means 'power', 'kingdom' and traces back to the Indo-European stem *reg meaning originally 'sky', ‘light’ etc. Cf. also rūz→‘happiness’ day.%n114 сл. — 72.
