A changed variant to ‘warm oneself’. For the change t || с cf. also (from *æntūlyn) ‘wrinkle up’ and (from æntūxyn) ‘tighten’. Existing established cases of such change make unnecessary the reconstruction of stem cæfs- to *ati-tafs → *atyafs- (BaileyVI 67), especially since the preverb ati- has not left noticeable tracks in Ossetic.
