The word ‘nail’ sounds similar apparently for some reason; it also has Vainakh correspondences, and both words probably came from one substrate complex with the meaning ‘stick’, ‘nail’, ‘key’ etc. For the meaining development cf. ključ and kljuka, clavis and clavus.%n105.
