Развитие значения ‘поворот’ — ‘изгиб’ — ‘складка’ не нуждается в пояснениях. С ослаблением гласного основы а → æ получает медиальное значение ‘переворачиваться’. С другим превербом имеем yz-daxyn [см. ] (← *ūz-tāk-) ‘поворачивать’. Ср. также ‘складка’. Сопоставление с pardāxtan: pardaz- (Штакельберг по Horn'у: 66) мало дает ввиду многообразия значений персидского глагола (‘кончать’, ‘приготовлять’, ‘передавать’, ‘уплачивать’, ‘украшать’, ‘полировать’, ‘очищать’, ‘заботиться’ и др.). Apparently it is from fæl-taxyn (←*pari-tāk), where the stem tax- (tāk-) is related to Ossetic ‘fold’, ‘bend’, tāk, tā fold, bend. The development of the meaning ‘turn’ — ‘bend’ — ‘fold’ needs no explanation. The weakening of the stem vowel а → æ results in a middle voice meaning ‘turn over’. There is also yz-daxyn [see ] (← *ūz-tāk-) ‘turn (sth.)’ with another preverb. Cf. also ‘fold’. The comparison to pardāxtan: pardaz- (Stackelberg after Horn: 66) does not give much information due to the variety of meanings of the Persian verb (‘finish’, ‘cook’, ‘transmit’, ‘pay’, ‘decorate’, ‘polish’, ‘clean’, ‘take care’, etc.).
