Весьма редкий суффикс -æd можно, кажется, сблизить с суффиксом -æt в cæw-æt [] ‘потомство’ (от ), mæl-æt [] ‘смерть’ (от ) и нек. др. It is derived from | evun ‘change’, ‘replace’ with the suffix -æd and the prefix ‘behind’, ‘after’, literally ‘change, (coming) from behind’, i.e. the new generation, which will replace the older one. This rather rare suffix -æd can probably be related to the suffix -æt in cæw-æt [] ‘posterity’ (from ), mæl-æt [] ‘death’ (from ) and some others.
