Другие значения основы *man- представлены в ос. ‘указывать’, ‘счастье’, ‘раскаяние’. Assuming that the initial meaning was ‘attractive’, ‘pleasing’, it can be traced back to vi-man- (with the formant -aw, as in wæzzaw, æǧdaw etc.), having in view a widespread stem *man- (Indo-European *men-), among diverse meanings of which there are meanings that are close to the notion ‘to please’ etc.: cf. manay-996 to please, isu-mana- lovely, nice-looking. Other meanings of the stem *man- are present in Ossetic ‘indicate’, ‘happiness’, ‘remorse’.
