Миллер (Gr. 38) возводит оба значения к mat вместе, совместно ( mat, smat). Чеч. ma усилительная частица -то, ведь (so-ma я-то и т. п.) идет, возможно, из осетинского. Сюда (с наращением -r) mar еще, уже, даже, -ка (gyere mar = cū ma иди-ка). In the meaning of a hortative particle may you etc. goes back to mā; cf. mā well!, mā emphatic enclitic particle, sma, mai particle in optative and interrogative expressions, ma as for, but an enclitic particle. Cf., from another direction, ma here you are! ( IV 1985. — 895), ma here you are! take it!. — still etc. should be separated from the hortative and connected with = æma, æmæ and, therefore, reconstructed to hama; cf. mā, mʼẟ thus (← hama-aθa: § 397), hamaθa also. Ws. Miller (Gr. 38) reconstructs both meanings to mat together, jointly ( mat, smat). ma emphatic particle as for, after all (so-ma as for me and so on) possibly comes from Ossetic. mar still, already, even, hortative particle (gyere mar = cū ma come on) also belongs here (with augmented -r).
