Ос. nyxas примыкает к каузативным формам и значениям индоевропейской базы k˳eḱ- ( 638); ср. также čāšītan учить, čašte, čašaite учит. Развитие значения делать явным, показывать → говорить наглядно видно в славянском: с одной стороны, по-казать, с другой — с-казать, рас-с-казать, в диалектах казать означает и показывать и говорить ( II 73); также казаты показывать, говорить. Выделяемая в славянском основа kaz- ( k˳eǵ-) представляет вариацию kas- (( k˳eḱ-). Ср. также dis- показывать (ос. æv-dīsyn) при dīcō говорю. — Для семантической связи речь, собрание, место собраний ср. αγορά собрание, речь на собрании, место собраний. Медиальное значение kaś- представлено в ос. , fælgæsyn смотреть. — Ос. nyxas вошло в некоторые соседние языки: nәɣәš место в ауле, где собираются старики на совет ( 280); в топонимике — Rәdar-nәɣәš, Arvәdor-nәɣәš ( 285; naxšoba разговор, беседа, sanaxšo место в селении, где мужчины собираются на беседу ( 687); звуковое развитие nyxas → nxas → naxš. Ср. также xasä совет, совещание, Nart xasä = ос. Narty nyxas; здесь придется допустить одно из двух: либо начальное ny- ni- утрачено на кабардинской почве, либо кабардинский сохранил форму без приставки ny- ni-, которая, возможно, бытовала в осетинском в прошлом. Goes back to ni-kāśa-. Cf. kaś- (kāśate, čaṣṭe) middle appear, shine, watch, causative show, make clear, make known, announce, inform, proclaim (pra-kāś). Ossetic nyxas is close to the causative forms and meanings of the Indo-European base k˳eḱ- ( 638); cf. čāšītan teach, čašte, čašaite teaches. Development of the meaning make clear, show → speak is clearly seen in Slavic: on the one hand, po-kazatʼ, on the other hand, s-kazatʼ, ras-s-kazatʼ, in dialects kazatʼ means both show and speak ( II 73); also kazaty show, speak. The distinguished Slavic stem kaz- ( k˳eǵ-) is a variation of kas- ( k˳eḱ-). See also dis- show (Ossetic æv-dīsyn) along with dīcō I speak. — For semantic relation of the speech, meetings, and meeting places cf. αγορά meeting, speech at the meeting, meeting place. The middle voice meaning kaś- is represented in Ossetic , fælgæsyn look. — Ossetic nyxas was loaned into some neighboring languages: nәɣәš place in the aul where the old people gather for councils ( 280); in toponymy, Rәdar-nәɣәš, Arvәdor-nәɣәš ( 285; naxšoba talk, conversation, sanaxšo place in the village where the men gather to talk ( 687); the sound development nyxas → nxas → naxš. See also xasä council, meeting, Nart xasä = Ossetic Narty nyxas; one of the two things should be allowed here: either the initial ny- ni- was lost in Kabardian, or Kabardian retained the form without the prefix ny- ni-, which may have existed in Ossetic in the past.
