Она выходит далеко за пределы анатомии и физиологии и включает также психическую сферу — все, что, скажем, в русском обозначается словом душа: не только разнообразные эмоциональные, но даже интеллектуальные состояния и проявления, сознание, память. Zærdæ — не только καρδία, но также ψυχή и μένος. Почти все, что природа возложила на мозг и нервы, язык возложил на сердце . The ideosemantics of Ossetic zærdæ is truly immense. It goes far beyond anatomy and physiology and also includes the psychic realm – everything that, for example, in Russian is denoted by the word soul: not only various emotional, but even intellectual states and manifestations, consciousness, memory. Zærdæ means not only καρδία, but also ψυχή and μένος. II, p. 293, 305), zṛə (← zṛdya-), zuṛ, zōrδ, zarδ, zord, zīl, zawδ, zarz (= zarδ), δarza (δrzy, the metathesis of zrδy: § 182), zird, ysara-, ysira- (= zira-), zarəδaya-, hṛd-, hṛdaya-. Outside of Indo-Iranian, the base ḱerd- ( 579–580) dominates: srъdьce, serdce, širdìs, sirt, hairto, cor, cordis, cride, καρδία, kard- (genitive kar-di-aš).Ossetic styrzærdæ arrogant (with a big heart) is comparable to šallakarda- great of heart in such derivatives as šallakardatar- arrogance, haughtiness (Güterbock. Zu einigen hethitischen Komposita. Corolla linguistica…Wiesbaden, 1955, p. 65–68). To think that there is no connection between Aryan and non-Aryan forms (for example: Lewy, XL 49), is hardly sound.
