Что касается второй части — tong, то, хотя она отдельно не сохранилась, значение ее устанавливается бесспорно, как из сопоставления с dymi-tong „хвостовый ремень“ (может быть, также ‘ременная веревка’), так и из иранских соответствий: ср. tang подпруга, tang, ta-tang id. и др. (48 сл.). Сюда же ttākā подпруга (XI 291)? Ср. .%n54. The composition æx-tong, literally ‘fastening (æx) the belt(tong)’. The element *æx with the same meaning is found in (from æx-næg) ‘fastener’, æx-kænyn ‘lock’ [see ]. Assuming that r often drops out before a consonant in Ossetic, we reconstruct *æx in *ærx and refer here the following words: Digor ‘locked’, ‘branch’, ‘joint’ and maybe ‘pincers’. The further see in . As for the second part, tong, even that is not in usage anymore, its meaning can be restored for certain, as by comparing it with dymi-tong "tail belt" (may be also ‘belt rope’), and by finding Iranian correspondences: cf. tang girth, tang, ta-tang id. etc. (48ff.).
