Основа *sed- ‘сидеть’ широко распространена в индоевропейских языках; ср. had-, ni-šad, sad-, сидеть, садить, sedere, sitzen сидеть, setzen сажать и пр. Скифское собственное имя Bαδαγος(Ольвия) соответствует badæg сидящий, до сих пор употребляемому как собственное имя. — Случаи сращения преверба ba c глаголом крайне редки; ср. .%nI 51; 60. — 159. Ws. Miller proposed an acceptable explanation: from *ba-аd= *upa-had-, *upa-sad-, i.e. the fusion of the preverb bа- (← upa-) and the stem had-, *sed- sit. The loss of h in Ossetic is regular, cf. etc. The stem *sed- ‘sit’ is widespread in Indo-European languages: cf. had-, ni-šad, sad-, sidetʼ, saditʼ, sedere, sitzen sit, setzen seat etc. Scythian proper name Bαδαγος (Olvia) corresponds to badæg sitting, which is still in use as a proper name. — The fusion of the preverb ba and verbs is quite rare; cf. .%nI 51; 60. — 159.
