( dast рука + ak). В осетинском слово не может рассматриваться как оригинальное, так как начальный d указывает на персидскую языковую среду (ср. zasta- рука); к тому же слово zasta- не оставило следов в осетинском. Поэтому приходится думать об усвоении из персидского в средневековую или даже древнюю эпоху. Ср. dasta пучок, букет и пр., dastak пригоршня, горсть, destek пучок; в значении ‘рука’ персидская форма dasta- (вместо zasta-) широко распространилась и в восточноиранских языках: dast, δust, lost, las, dast, δst, dastaka-. Ср. также усвоенные из иранского dastʼakʼ запястье, dastʼangi браслет, запястье, dastʼak дощечка для тиснения орнамента на жертвенном хлебе (Xp. Вост. II, № 1, стр. 9). То же слово в новоперсидской форме налично в ос. ‘5 сафьянов’. Специальное значение, связанное с работой жнеца, несомненно существует и в других языках, но не отмечено словарями ( дает для destī gerbe). Связь этого значения с ‘рукой’ естественна; ср. xeleuli полная горсть колосьев от xeli рука, xesi горсть, маленький сноп от xe рука. It relates to *dastak bunch, bundle etc. ( dast hand + ak). The word cannot be considered as original in Ossetic, because the initial d points to the Persian linguistic environment (cf. zasta- hand); moreover, the word zasta- has not left traces in Ossetic. Therefore it is necessary to think about borrowing from Persian in the Middle ages or even in the Ancient times. Cf. dasta bundle, bunch etc, dastak handful, destek bunch; the Persian form dasta- (instead of zasta-) is widespread in East-Iranian languages in the meaning ‘hand’: dast, δust, lost, las, dast, δst, dastaka-. Cf. also borrowed from Iranian dastʼakʼ wrist, dastʼangi bracelet, wrist, dastʼak plate for embossing an ornament on a sacrificial bread (Xp. Вост. II, № 1, стр. 9). The same word in a new Persian form is found in Ossetic ‘5 morocco leathers’. A special meaning connected with mower work is undoubtedly found in other languages, but it is not mentioned in dictionaries ( gives for destī gerbe). The connection of this meaning with ‘hand’ is natural; cf. xeleuli a handful of wheat heads from xeli hand, xesi handful, small sheaf from xe hand.
