Миллер (II 70) сопоставлял с gumux тупой (у Миллера ошибочно gəməx, что соответствует другому осетинскому слову и означает ‘голый’, ‘лишенный растительности’ — 276, 281). Трудность в том, что gumux не имеет тюркской этимологии и само нуждается в разъяснении. Может быть, kʼumux ‘тупой’, ‘лишенный растительности’ вместе с их балкарскими эквивалентами относятся к группе „изобразительных“ слов, рассмотренных под ‘круглый’.%n%n%bЗначение ‘круглый’ выступает, возможно, в kʼ˳ymyxcy | kʼumuxci ‘маленький сыр’ (из kʼumux-cixt „круглый сыр?“): xoxbæsty cæræg adæm xastoj wæjmæ sæ kʼ˳ymyxcyjy mūrtæ „горные жители приносили на продажу крохи своих сыров“ (čerm. 72).%b Ws. Miller (II 70) compared it with gumux blunt (Miller refers to gəməx by mistake, which corresponds to another Ossetic word , meaning ‘naked’, ‘without greenery/hair’ — 276, 281). The difficulty is that gumux does not have a Turkic etymology and needs an explanation itself. Perhaps kʼumux ‘blunt’, ‘without greenery/hair’ together with their Balkar equivalents are related to a group of “onomatopoeic” words, considered under ‘round’.%nThe meaning ‘round’ possibly appears in kʼ˳ymyxcy | kʼumuxci ‘little cheese’ (from kʼumux-cixt „round cheese?“): %ixoxbæsty cæræg adæm xastoj wæjmæ sæ kʼ˳ymyxcyjy mūrtæ%i “highlanders brought little pieces of their cheese for sale” (72). хз что делать с примером в этимологии
