Cf. murr- (murrde) crush from mṛ-n- ( 1940 VIII 577; 1966 XXIX 531), mṛṇati crushes, pounds, breaks, mūrṇa crushed (to mel- crush, grind? — cf. malem I break, I castrate, mlěti, molotʼ, malti, malan); mūr from maru-, mauru-? The Finno-Ugric group of words – muru crumb, bit, granule, murta crush, break, murskata break into pieces, moarrâ break, morzsa crumb, mory break etc. ( 36. — 13, 189. — S I 353) — is possibly an old Scythian loan.The similarity with mor dust, ashes ( I 730) and μόριον part ( 970) should be viewed as accidental. Both mor armful and murá hash, crumbled bread in kvass also seem to lead to Ossetic.
