A form wælængæ noted in Digor suggests that the forms ong, wængæ represent contraction and simplification of wælængæ. The latter can be traced to upariank- from upari ( wæl-) on, above; the formant -ank- (-aṅč-) pointed to a directed action ( II 2 158). Cf. , . — -onʒä ending of casus terminativi ( 49), postposition avec le sens de jusqu’a 155 attracts attention. Is this a random consonance? Is this a borrowing from Alanian?
