Тюрко-монгольскому u отвечает и в осетинском, и в венгерском o. Такая субституция могла произойти независимо в каждом языке. There are a significant number of Turkic words borrowed both in Alan and Hungarian — apparently in the same time (Europa et Hungaria. Congressus Ethnographicus in Hungaria. Budapest, 1965, pp. 525—529). ox reason, occasion should be also attributed to these Turkic-Alan-Hungarian isoglosses. Cf. uq opinion, meaning, understanding ( I 1605), ux ground, reason, occasion (Kovalevskij. Mongolʼsko-russko-francuzskij slovarʼ [Mongolian-Russian-French dictionary] Kazan, 1844), ok occasion, reason, ground ( 108). Turkic-Mongol u corresponds o in Hungarian and in Ossetic. Such a substitution could happen in every language independently.
