Соблазнительно связать с kalaśa- чаша, горшок, calix глубокая чаша, кубок и пр. Начальный q (вместо k) — результат контаминации с каким-то тюркским словом? — Ср. qalaq большая ложка ( II 227). It is tempting to associate with kalaśa- bowl, pot, calix deep bowl, cup etc. May the initial q (instead of k) be the result of contamination with some Turkic word? — Cf. qalaq big spoon ( II 227).
