Кавк. отдела имп. Русск. геогр. общ. VIII 1 186), следует считать первоначальной (ср. отношение гласных в mælʒygmulʒug муравей); rumpæg по форме представляет причастие на -æg (nomen actoris: §§ 110, 169I 1) от глагола rump-. Такой глагол в осетинском не сохранился. Но он известен в других индоевропейских языках. Ближайшее соответствие — rumpo рву, corrumpo (→con-rumpo) порчу. Ср., далее, lup-, lump-, lumpati портить, lupiti, лупить сдирать шкуру, кожуру, обдирать, rüpa отверстие. Имеет ли сюда отношение ci-ramb- щипать ( 239)? The Digor form rumpæg, which is supported by the albeit rare, but reliably documented Iron form rympæg (Izvestija Kavkazskogo otdela Imperatorskogo russkogo geografičeskogo obščestva [Proceedings of the Caucasian Department of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society] VIII 1 186), should be considered original (cf. the relation between vowels in mælʒygmulʒug ant); rumpæg is an -æg-participle (nomen actoris: §§ 110, 169I 1) of the verb rump-. Such a verb was not preserved in Ossetic. But it is known in other Indo-European languages. The closest correspondence is rumpo I tear, corrumpo (→con-rumpo) I damage.
