Сюда же tokman- побег растения, taoxman-, tuxm семя (по образованию toka- относится к tokman-, как, скажем, śaka- к śakman- и т. п.). Имеем, стало быть, семантический ряд семя — кровь — жир, объединяемый понятием жизненная сила ( tewə-, tu-). Для семантического развития ср. μένος жизненная сила — кровь. Индоевропейские базы tewə- и men- имели обе исходное значение жизненная сила, но в дальнейшем в первом случае возобладал физический и физиологический аспект этой силы, во втором — духовный (мыслить, думать, помнить и т. п.). И только греческий в слове μένος хорошо сохранил оба аспекта. — Одного корня с ос. tūg слово tyxtuxæ сила. — Вс. Миллер (Gr. 65) сближал tūg с tawyn сеять, (875) — с корнем tak- течь. То и другое сомнительно. Goes back to tauka- and is close to toka- offspring (← seed; cf. mæ tūg, mæ ʽstæg my blood, my bone in the sense my blood child), tukъ, tuk fat, taukaī fat, bone marrow, taukùs fat, juicy. See also tokman- plant shoot, taoxman-, tuxm seed (as for the derivation pattern, toka- is related to tokman-, as, for example, śaka- is to śakman- etc.). We have, therefore, a semantic series seed — blood — fat, united by the concept of life force ( tewə-, tu-). As for the semantic development, cf. μένος life force – blood. The Indo-European bases tewə- and men- both had the initial meaning life force, but in the future, in the first case, the physical and physiological aspect of this force prevailed, in the second – the spiritual one (think, conceive, remember etc.). And only Greek in the word μένος preserved both aspects well. — The word tyxtuxæ strength is of the same root with Ossetic tūg. — Ws. Miller (Gr. 65) brought tūg close to tawyn sow, (875) – with the roottak- flow. Both are doubtful.
