Like another horse breed famous in the North Caucasus, it got its name from the family whose representatives were engaged in breeding it – this time from the Abaza surname Tram, Tramovs ( XXV 3 15). Some breeds of horses, such as Tram, got their name from families that have traditionally been engaged in horse breeding for generations (Daurov. The wide popularity of this breed is confirmed by the mention in Lermontov’s poem Ismail Bey: A brave pet from tram herds... a dead horse lay (Sočinenija [Collected works], vol.
