Ср. aggwus, angi, eng, angustus,1Wyngæg относится к angustus, как к arduus. cum-ung узкий, тесный, anjukʼ тесный, теснота, узкий проход ( 420). Физическая теснота повсюду в этих языках связывается с теснотой душевной, тоской, страхом, тревогой; ср. ongost, angust, Angst, Bange (из bi-ango) страх, тревога, angor стеснение сердца, беспокойство, тоска, angustia стесненное положение, angoisse тоска, грусть, душевная тревога, ing стесненное состояние, anjukʼ не только тесный, но и стесненное положение, нужда. — Без форманта -æg осетинское слово налично в wyng | ungæ улица, собственно узкий, тесный проход. Для семантики ср. tanga узкий проход, ущелье, taņgi узкая улица ( I 294) от tang узкий, ulica, улица (родственно αὐλων лощина, ущелье, ров, канава, овраг), (диал.) переузина тропа (Даль III 94), rue улица из ruga морщина, angusta viarum узкие проходы, angiportus переулок. 146. — , стр. 331—332. The vowel а before nasal consonants may become narrower and transform into i or u: ingæn grave from hankana-, cærun I live from carami etc. Thus, may be traced back to anga-ka- and connected with the Indo-European anǵh- narrow. Etymologically there belongs aṁhu- narrow, but phonetically (g instead of the expected z, as in azah- constraint, ǫzъkъ, uzkij) the Ossetic word is close not to the Indo-European and Slavic ones, but to the Western European (Germanic-Latin-Celtic) forms and must be considered as Scythian-European izogloss. Cf. aggwus, angi, eng, angustus,Wyngæg corresponds to angustus, as to arduus. cum-ung narrow, tight, anjukʼ tight, tightness, narrow pass ( 420). The physical tightness in all these languages is associated with the mental tightness, grief, fear, anxiety; cf. ongost, angust, Angst, Bange (from bi-ango) fear, anxiety, angor anguish of heart, anxiety, grief, angustia cramped situation, angoisse grief, sorrow, mental anxiety, ing strained condition, anjukʼ not only narrow, but also constrained circumstances, need. — Without the affix -æg the Ossetic word is present in wyng | ungæ street, actually narrow, constrained pass. As for semantics, cf. tanga narrow pass, gorge, taņgi narrow street ( I 294) from tang narrow, ulica, ulica (it's a cognate with αὐλων dell, gorge, moat, ditch, ravine), (dialectal) pereuzina path (Даль III 94), rue street from ruga wrinkle, angusta viarum narrow passes, angiportus alleyway. 146. — , p. 331—332.
