Сюда же, вероятно, uskhays- подниматься [kh (x) — результат сгущения h, как в ос. axad- из asadh-, xᵛafna- из svapna- и мн. др.]. По мнению Petersson’a, к иранскому примыкает xizax смелый (для семантики ср. staigùs внезапный при steigen подниматься. Наряду с базой xaiz- приходится предполагать базу haz-: xastan, ’wxz-, uskhays-. В индоевропейской проекции это указывает на две параллельные модели: seigh- и segh-. Первая отражена в сигать прыгать, вторая — в sęgti, сягать достигать (sengh-). — Попытку Benveniste’а объединить ¹ и ²xīzyn в одно семантическое и этимологическое гнездо ( 55—56, 117) нельзя признать удачной. — См. еще ос. wælaxīz победа (upari-haiza-). Goes back to ²haiz- or xaiz-, a widespread Iranian verb meaning ascend, and, depending on the preverb, also go down etc.: xēstan : xēz-, xāstan : xēz- get up, xēz- bounce, xēzīdan jump, āxēz- id., xēz- climb, rist-āxēz resurrection from the dead, ōxēz- go down, wihēz- cross over, xež-, xez-, xaz-, āxēz- ascend, murd-āxēz- rise from the dead ( mærdtæj ysxīzyn), āxēz- (’xyž-, ’γyž-) ascend, get up, ōxaz- (ʼwxz-, ’wγz-) go down, xēz- (xyz- climb, xēz- ascend, whyzy- move down, force down (MacKenzie, 1971 XXXIV 77), climb, move, cross over ( 14), hīys- (= xīz-) ascend, bihīys- id., vahīys- go down, pahīys- move away ( 79, 100, 122, 164), uskhīys- ascend ( 42). Perhaps, related is also uskhays- ascend [kh (x) is the result of thickening of h, like in Ossetic axad- from asadh-, xᵛafna- from svapna-etc.]. According to Petersson, adjacent to Iranian is xizax brave (semantically, compare to staigùs sudden along with steigen ascend. Along with the stem xaiz-, one has to assume the stem haz-: xastan, ’wxz-, uskhays-. In the Indo-European projection, this indicates two parallel models: seigh- and segh-. The first one is reflected in sigatʼ jump, and the second one in sęgti, sjagatʼ achieve (sengh-). — Benveniste’s attemp to unite and into one semantic and etymological nest ( 55—56, 117) cannot be considered successful. — See also Ossetic wælaxīz victory (upari-haiza-).
