<etym xml:lang="ru">Трудно видеть в этом слове что-нибудь, кроме прош. причастия от
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">*fælxæssyn</hi>, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*fælxærsyn</hi>, ныне неупотребительного, но представляющего
очевидное сращение преверба <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fæl-</hi> с <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xæssyn"/>,
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">xærsun</hi> ‘нести’ и пр. (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">*pari-karsta-</hi>).
Сюда можно было бы отнести и <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d2348e158" xml:id="mentioned_d2348e143" xml:lang="sog"><lang/>

<etym xml:lang="en">It is difficult to see in this word anything other than the past
participle of <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*fælxæssyn</hi>, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*fælxærsyn</hi>, not used now, but representing an
obvious fusion of the preverb <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fæl-</hi> with <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xæssyn"/>, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">xærsun</hi> carry etc. (<hi rendition="#rend_italic">*pari-karsta-</hi>).
However, the ideosemantics is not clear, since the meanings of the verb
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">xæssyn</hi> are diverse. Taking into account that all deviations from the norm in
the sphere of the psyche were attributed to the action of demonic forces, we are
ready to understand <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fælxærst</hi>, in exact accordance with the basic meaning of
the verb, as carried away (by evil spirits). Cf. (fused with another preverb)
<ref type="xr" target="#entry_īvxærsyn"/> entertain (take consciousness
