осетинском он обычно восходит к др.иран. <hi rendition="#rend_italic">р</hi>. Однако наличие <hi rendition="#rend_italic">f</hi> почти во

attested. As for the phonetic history of the word, the initial <hi rendition="#rend_italic">f</hi> is of
special interest. In Ossetic it usually traces back to Old Iranian <hi rendition="#rend_italic">р</hi>.
However, the presence of <hi rendition="#rend_italic">f</hi> almost in all Iranian dialects points to the fact
that this time <hi rendition="#rend_italic">f</hi> had already been in Old Iranian. It might trace back either
to pre-Iranian <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ph</hi>, or to the combination of <hi rendition="#rend_italic">р</hi> with a consonant. Basing

This etymology is not correct for Ossetic <hi rendition="#rend_italic">fijjag</hi>, since the initial group
