со значениями ‘дикий осел’, ‘осленок’, ‘жеребенок’ (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Радлов"/><biblScope>II 974, 589</biblScope></bibl>. —

<etym xml:lang="en">In contrast to <ref type="xr" target="#entry_xæræg"/> donkey,
which is an original Iranian word, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kʼælæw</hi> should be considered a borrowing.
The probable source is <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d743e129" xml:id="mentioned_d743e190" xml:lang="trk"><lang/>
<w>qulan</w></mentioned> with its variants <hi rendition="#rend_italic">qolan</hi>, <hi rendition="#rend_italic">qolaw</hi> etc. with
meanings wild donkey, foal (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Радлов"/><biblScope>II 974, 589</biblScope></bibl>. — <bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Будагов"/><biblScope>II 90</biblScope></bibl>). Probably,
