по образованию <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d5825e167" xml:id="mentioned_d5825e123" xml:lang="fa"><lang/>

полотенце’ (<hi rendition="#rend_bold">SD 272%l4%l</hi>), <hi rendition="#rend_italic">finʒsærfæn kʼoxmærzæn</hi> ‘носовой платок’ (%bАК I

<etym xml:lang="en">A compound from <ref type="xr" target="#entry_kʼūx"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kʼох</hi>
and <hi rendition="#rend_italic">mærz-</hi> (<ref type="xr" target="#entry_mærzyn"/>) clean etc. The word is
of etymological interest in the sense that the verb <hi rendition="#rend_italic">mærz-</hi> appears here in
its old meaning wipe, unlike the modern one sweep. Cf. the same derivation
pattern in <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d5825e123" xml:id="mentioned_d5825e167" xml:lang="fa"><lang/>

well as <ref type="xr" target="#entry_kælmærzæn"/>) went beyond the semantics of
the constituents (“hand wiper”), and the word can be applied to any scarf or
