<hi rendition="#rend_italic">doz</hi>-, которую мы находим также в ræ-tʼūz-yn ‘пронзать’ [см. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_rætʼūzyn"/>] и, как нам кажется, в <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æmpʼūzyn"/> ‘штопать’ и <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ræmpʼūzyn"/> ‘протыкать’; вряд ли сюда относятся <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ærdūzyn"/> ‘кастрировать’ и <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ærdaz</hi> ærdaz
‘поляна’ (см.). Вс. Миллер (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Миллер_Вс._ОЭ"/><biblScope>II 174</biblScope></bibl>) дает также глагол <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ændūzyn"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ændozun</hi> ‘закреплять’, нам не известный, но
исторически вполне возможный, см. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æmpʼūzyn"/>.
Исходное значение основы <hi rendition="#rend_italic">duz</hi>- ‘действие острым орудием’, ‘протыкание’. Слово

<etym xml:lang="en">The fusion of the preverb <hi rendition="#rend_italic">æv</hi> (from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">abi</hi>?) and the stem
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">dūz</hi>- | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">doz</hi>-, which is also found in <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ræ-tʼūz-yn</hi> to pierce [see <ref type="xr" target="#entry_rætʼūzyn"/>] and, as it seems to us, in <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æmpʼūzyn"/> to darn and <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ræmpʼūzyn"/> to pierce; a relation to <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ærdūzyn"/> to castrate and <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ærdaz</hi> glade hardly refer
here. Ws. Miller (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Миллер_Вс._ОЭ"/><biblScope>II 174</biblScope></bibl>) proposes also the verb <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ændūzyn"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">ændozun</hi> to fasten, which is
unknown to us but its existence is quite possible historically, see <ref type="xr" target="#entry_æmpʼūzyn"/>. The initial meaning of the stem
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">duz</hi>- acting with a sharp tool, piercing. The word is of Iranian origin,
cf. <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d1795e195" xml:id="mentioned_d1795e297" xml:lang="fa"><lang/>
