<w>Dudar-a-tæ</w>, <w>Mamsyr-a-tæ</w> и т. п.) от имени легендарного родоначальника
<w>Tæga</w>: <w>Tægiatæ</w> — стяжение из <w>Tægajatæ</w>, как <w>faliaw</w> из
<w>falæjaw</w> и т. п. Балкарцы называют всех осетин-иронцев <mentioned xml:lang="krc-x-balkar"><w>tegej</w>, <w>tegejli</w>
<gloss><q>тагаурцами</q></gloss></mentioned> в отличие от <mentioned xml:lang="krc-x-balkar"><w>düger</w>
<gloss><q>дигорцев</q></gloss></mentioned>.<note xml:lang="ru" type="footnote"><emph>Шегрен</emph>, а вслед за ним <emph>Hübschmann</emph> и <emph>Залеман</emph>
также применяли термин <w>тагаурский (tagaurisch)</w> в значении

<w>Dudar-a-tæ</w>, <w>Mamsyr-a-tæ</w> etc.) from the name of the legendary ancestor
<w>Tæga</w>: <w>Tægiatæ</w> which is derived from <w>Tægajatæ</w>, in the same manner as
<w>faliaw</w> from <w>falæjaw</w>, etc. The Balkars call all Iron Ossetians <mentioned xml:lang="krc-x-balkar"><w>tegej</w>, <w>tegejli</w>
<gloss><q>Tagaurians</q></gloss></mentioned> in contrast with <mentioned xml:lang="krc-x-balkar"><w>düger</w>
<gloss><q>Digor</q></gloss></mentioned>.<note type="footnote"><name>Sjögren</name>,
followed by <name>Hübschmann</name> and <name>Salemann</name> also applied the term
<w>Tagaurian (tagaurisch)</w> in the meaning <gloss><q>Iron</q></gloss>.</note>
