<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_ОЯФ_I"/><biblScope>231-237</biblScope></bibl>. Этимология
основана на допущении, что ясли служили также помещением для новорожденных
телят, что вполне согласуется с реалиями. Для составных частей <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*kæd</hi> и
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">*wæs</hi> см. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_kæt"/> ‘конюшня’ и <ref type="xr" target="#entry_wæss"/> ‘теленок’. Из осетинского идет <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d4686e182" xml:id="mentioned_d4686e158" xml:lang="krc-x-balkar"><lang/>

<etym xml:lang="en">Apparently, it is a metathesis from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*kæd-wæs</hi>, an “inverted”
compound word, instead of “normal” <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*wæs-kæd</hi><hi rendition="#rend_italic">*vatsa-kata-</hi> „room for a
calf“. About “the inversion” in Ossetic compound words see <bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_ОЯФ_I"/><biblScope>231-237</biblScope></bibl>.
The etymology is based on the assumption that a crib was also used as a room for
newborn calfs, which is quite coordinated with the reality. For components
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">*kæd</hi> and <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*wæs</hi> see <ref type="xr" target="#entry_kæt"/> stable and <ref type="xr" target="#entry_wæss"/> calf. <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d4686e158" xml:id="mentioned_d4686e182" xml:lang="krc-x-balkar"><lang/>
