participle from not preserved Ossetic verb *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">kay-</hi>, *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">čay-</hi> to give due
etc., Indo-European *<hi rendition="#rend_italic">k˳ei-</hi> with the initial meaning to look, to pay
