<etym xml:lang="ru">От <ref type="xr" target="#entry_arc"/> ‘копье’ с уменьшительным
суффиксом <m>-ynʒ</m>, который мы находим также в <ref type="xr" target="#entry_wadynʒ"/> ‘свирель’. Переносу значения с ‘копья’ на ‘иглу’
способствовало то, что копья и стрелы у скифов и алан имели также трехгранные
наконечники. См. об этом под <ref type="xr" target="#entry_7rttīǧ"/> ‘наконечник
стрелы’. Развитие значения такое же, как <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d5859e175" xml:id="mentioned_d5859e136" xml:lang="ru"><lang/>
<w>булава → булавка</w></mentioned>. Окончание <m>-ij</m> в дигорском
вторичное; ср. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_fynʒ"/> | <w>fij</w>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_7lxyncʼ"><w>lxyncʼ</w></ref> | <w>ælxij</w>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_7fsonʒ"/> | <w>æfsoj</w>.<lb/><bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_ОЯФ_I"/><biblScope>574</biblScope></bibl>.</etym>
<etym xml:lang="en">From <ref type="xr" target="#entry_arc"/> spear with a
diminutive suffix <m>-ynʒ</m>, which is also found in <ref type="xr" target="#entry_wadynʒ"/> reed-pipe. The transfer of meaning from spear
to needle was motivated by the fact that Scythian and Alan spears and arrows
were tree-edged. More information about this is to be found in <ref type="xr" target="#entry_7rttiǧ"/> arrow-head. The development of the meaning is the
same as in <mentioned corresp="#mentioned_d5859e136" xml:id="mentioned_d5859e175" xml:lang="ru"><lang/>
<w>bulava → bulavka</w></mentioned>. The Digor ending <m>-ij</m> is
