языкознания позволяют восстановить <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kælmærzæn</hi> в <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*kær-mærzæn</hi> (с

pattern and by value, which is a clear compound of<ref type="xr" target="#entry_kʼūx"/> | <hi rendition="#rend_italic">k’ox</hi> ‘arm’ and <ref type="xr" target="#entry_mærzyn"/> ‘to wipe’, literally „the thing that hands are
|
|||
|
wiped with“ (Persian <hi rendition="#rend_italic">dast-māl</hi>). By analogy the first part <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kæl</hi>in
|
|||
|
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">kælmærzæn</hi> meant ‘arm’, although in contemporary language there is no such
|
|||
|
word. The data of Indo-Iranian linguistics let trace <hi rendition="#rend_italic">kælmærzæn</hi> to
|
|||
|
<hi rendition="#rend_italic">*kær-mærzæn</hi> (with a regular dissimilation of liquids, cf. <ref type="xr" target="#entry_būlæmærǧ"/> from <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*būræmærǧ</hi> etc.). Cf. for <hi rendition="#rend_italic">*kær-</hi>
