древнеиранское наследие, а как вторичную ареальную скифо-европейскую изоглоссу,
непосредственно примыкающую к <mentioned xml:lang="la"><lang/>
<w>ulna</w></mentioned>, отчасти <mentioned xml:lang="lt"><lang/>
<w>úolektis</w></mentioned>, <mentioned xml:lang="lv"><lang/>
<w>uōlekts</w>

in Old Iranian by the word <mentioned xml:lang="x-oldirn"><w>araθni-</w></mentioned>,
which resulted regularly in Ossetic <w>ærin</w>, see <ref type="xr" target="#entry_ælmærīn"/>. The existence, in parallel, of a form with an initial
<c>u-</c> would be an improbable anomaly. Thus, wirhout detaching <oRef/> from this
etymological complex (<bibl><ref type="bibl" target="#ref_Pokorny"/>
<biblScope>307—309</biblScope></bibl>), one should consider it not as a direct Old
Iranian heritage, but as a secondary areal Scythian-Sarmatian izogloss, direcltly close to
<mentioned xml:lang="la"><lang/>
<w>ulna</w></mentioned>, partly to <mentioned xml:lang="lt"><lang/>
<w>úolektis</w></mentioned>, <mentioned xml:lang="lv"><lang/>
<w>uōlekts</w>
<gloss><q>elbow</q></gloss></mentioned>. As for the derivation, <oRef>wyl-yng</oRef> is
close to <ref type="xr" target="#entry_aryng"><w>ar-yng</w>
<gloss><q>flour trough</q></gloss></ref>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_rūʒyng"><w>rūʒ-yng</w>
<gloss><q>window</q></gloss></ref>, <ref type="xr" target="#entry_talyng"><w>talyng</w>
<gloss><q>dark</q></gloss></ref>. — With the other formant (<m>-čak</m>) cf. <mentioned xml:lang="sgh"><lang/>
